Executive Director
ACCOUNTABILITY: CCS Chair of the Board and the Board of Governors
WORK LOCATION: Based at CCS Pudong Center. Light travel required to Minhang and Hongqiao locations.
The Community Centre Shanghai (CCS) has three key pillars that form the focus of its efforts to meet the needs of the international community. These are 1) Community Building, 2) Counselling, and 3) Charity. The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the strategic planning, management and implementation of all services that fall under these three pillars as well as ensuring that they align with the vision and mission of CCS while meeting the agreed to annual goals.
JOB RESPONSIBILTIES:
Annual Management Cycle:
- Develop annual strategic plans for the Center and each pillar, approved by the Board.
- Develop CCS’s annual budget, approved by the Board.
Organizational and Fiscal Responsibility:
- Leads the organization toward vision and mission.
- Assesses organizational structure, processes, and staffing.
- Ensures financial stability of CCS organization and its assets.
Partnering and Fundraising Champion:
- Initiate partnerships and encourage investment/sponsorship in CCS.
- Proposes and executes fundraising activities, with board support.
- Continuously look for ways to network and create new partnerships, collaborations.
- Manage existing partners and ensure strong relationships maintained.
Professional, Encouraging, and Supportive Team Leader:
- Leads a positive work environment that encourages teamwork.
- Actively listens to team member feedback and shows appreciation to team.
- Ensure clear management structure with clearly defined rolls and responsibilities.
Community & Government Relations Ambassador:
- Networks with community leaders, corporate partners, and international schools. Develops good relations with local government and relevant agencies.
- Hosts special events such as Annual Gala, Open Houses, and center openings.
- Promotes CCS in the community, actively finding ways to enhance reputation.
- Ensure all marketing tools are efficient and relevant. These include website, magazine, WeChat platform, and other forms of marketing.
Real Estate Manager for Centers:
- Manages contract negotiations, landlord relations, and contracts.
- Coordinates new center locations and renovations, with board approval.
- Change and Strategy Facilitator
- Proactively monitors ever-changing international community to ensure CCS offerings are relevant. Strategizes new ways to attract target audiences.
- Assesses Community Service Unit (CSU) effectiveness and continuous improvement.
Accountability to Board:
- Works closely with ExCom to prepare ED report.
- Coordinates board meeting logistics.
- Openly shares issues/needs with board, for continued CCS success and advancement.
- Proposes, manages, and updates board with annual and quarterly budget reporting.
- Plans and supports all activities involving Advisory Subcommittees.
Qualifications:
- College graduate
- Strong desire to serve the community
- Organized and detailed oriented with strong strategic, execution and implementation skills
- Ability to collaborate well with outside clients and other departments
- Ability to train and manage a staff of 10+ (in person and remote)
- Ability to work under pressure and an ability to think strategically
- Ability to be goal driven, resilient with tenacity
- Excellent English writing, communication, and interpersonal skills. Mandarin knowledge a plus but not required
- Computer proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Community Director

The Community Director is a full-time position, with flexible work location. This position reports to the Executive Director.
Responsibilities:
- Uphold CCS’ mission to build healthier and happier communities
- Collaborate with Executive Director, Communications Director to implement strategies for CCS vision and mission
- Deliver CCS signature events
- Carry out community outreach initiatives to promote CCS’s activities, programs and events.
- Provide strategic leadership to Community Programming (classes and events)
- Build relationships with partners and collaborators of CCS
- Monitor and track the performance and achievement of all activities initiated
- Create new assignments and responsibilities
Skillset:
- Passion for community building
- Excellent communicator in both written and oral, comfortable with public speaking
- Experience in project management, event management or similar
- Active part of the international community in Shanghai (welcome newcomers as well)
- Self-driven and can work in a small business/ start-up environment
- Takes on leadership and works well with a team
- Organized and attention to detail while being flexible and adaptive to the changing situation
- Thinking on the feet
- University degree and language skills a bonus
- Fundraising champion a bonus
