Nancy is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist from Chicago, IL. She has broad experience working with families, couples and individuals both in the United States and internationally. Nancy brings compassion, authenticity, and cross-cultural life experience into the counseling relationship. Born and raised in East Asia, Nancy grew up in a culture with a negative stigma towards mental health before eventually discovering healing and growth through therapy for herself.
Nancy approaches therapy from person-centered, attachment theory and trauma-informed perspectives. She seeks to provide a safe environment for couples and individuals to explore family dynamics, past relationship trauma, and attachment patterns that contribute to ongoing struggles. She is a firm believer that wounds can be healed through secure bonding relationship. She also apply experiential approaches to help clients explore here and now emotions and thought process.
Nancy is passionate about working with individuals and couples experiencing marital distress and parenting issues. Being in a cross-cultural marriage for 14 years has given her a greater understanding and empathy for clients in similar situations. She also specializes in working with individuals dealing with mood disorders, attachment issues, identity struggles, and trauma. Nancy has moved multiple times between Asia and North America and can relate to those who constantly find themselves in transition. There has been many exciting events in her life, but she considers raising three energetic boys to be her biggest adventure so far!
